Williams; described by Stephen Gwynn; 4 vols. or 4 pts. in 1) and "Beautiful Switzerland" (Chamonix; Lausanne and its Environs; Lucerne; Villars and its Environs: all pictured and described by George Flemwell).

Hb, appears generally a very nice copy, however there is a faint red line approximately 2 1/2" long vertically in centre of rear cover, page edges foxed, significant foxing to early and late pages, though not affecting plates, 1" wide folded silk book-marker laid in between the 'Two Bridges' plate and its facing plate, resulting in foxing to the page, and slight marks on the plate.

Beautifully illustrated with 12 color plates by Ernest Haslehust; the descriptive text is provided by Edward Thomas and covers, the history, construction, neighborhood, etc. of this royal castle which was first constructed shortly after the Battle of Hastings by William "the Conqueror." Original gray cloth publisher's covers with green spine and cover lettering; there is a bright pictorial pastedown of the castle on the front cover. The book is undated, but ther eis a previous owner's name on the front end paper dated 1910, so it was likely published at about that time. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings (except the aforementioned owner name & date). It is a very nice copy with one tip showing and a bit of dampstaining to the bottom edge of the cover at the spine and also to the spine, but it is not particularly noticeable. ; Beautiful England Series; Color Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 56 pages.

No dust jacket. Dark green art deco design on grey end papers. 64 pp. plus numerous colour plates and black and white drawings. The book is in very good condition with minor shelf-wear to the extremities of the cover including minor bruising of the corners of the boards, the spine is lightly sunned, there is some light marking to the boards, "No 2" is written below the title to the front board. The binding is tight. There is light offsetting to the feps. Extensive details of ownership to the reverse of the title page and " Vol 2" written to the top of the list of plates in colour. There is very light foxing to the fore and bottom edges and the occasional spot of foxing scattered throughout. There is one short sideline, otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked.
