A lovely book of poetry and colour lithographs? by Leslie Wood describing the various trades and callers that were common in the period. These include Newspaper boy, Chimney Sweep, Coalman, Onion Seller, Junkman and charwoman. Seventeen characters in all. A Very Good copy. The volume begins at the half title page so not sure if the blank front end-paper has been removed. Small closed tear to bottom of half-title page, Light foxing to this page and reverse. The unclipped jacket, now in a protective acetate sleeve, is in about fine condition. An excellent, clean copy without blemishes or inscriptions. Wood's charming portraits of a series of tradespeople is a window into Post-war Britain where a middle-class household could still expect, gipsies, milkmen and rag and rag-and-bone men to knock at the door. One of Leslie Wood's best works and a personal favourite.
