1. Aufl. 264 S. + 11 Kupfertafeln Sehr seltenes Werk mit allen 11 Kupfertafeln. Der Begriff Markscheide kommt aus dem mittelalterlichen Bergbau Tirols, Sachsens und Böhmens. Er bezeichnet die Grenze eines Grubenfeldes, des Gebietes, in dem ein Bergwerk Abbau betreiben darf. Mark ist das alte deutsche Wort für Grenze. Im Mittelalter kam es durch die teilweise komplizierten Besitzverhältnisse zum Schlagen der Stuffe, dabei wurden in Stollen und Strecken benachbarter Gruben Grenzsymbole in das Gestein geschlagen. Über Tage wurden die Markscheiden mit Lochsteinen vermarkt. Analog dazu entwickelte sich im Mittelalter das Amt des Markscheiders, eines Bergbeamten, der die Markscheiden und Gruben vermaß.
