In Anknüpfung an die Arbeiten des Botanikers Johann Rudolf Suter (1766 - 1827 veröffentlichte er 1838 eine umfassende Flora der Schweiz, die nach seinem Tode von dem Paläobotaniker und Entomologen Oswald Heer (1809 - 1883) fortgesetzt wurde und nahezu 2.900 Pflanzenarten umfaßte. Seine hier vorliegende Sammlung Schweizer Pflanzen umfaßt 479 farblithographierte Pflanzentafeln mit zugehörigen Textblättern. Die Steinzeichnungen für das Werk fertigte der Schweizer Illustrator Jonas David Labram (1785 - 1852), der von 1836 an gemeinsam mit dem Schweizer Arzt und Entomologen Ludwig Imhoff (1801 - 1868) auch ein ähnliches Werk über schweizerische Käfergattungen veröffentlichte. Bei Bd. VII Gelenke geklebt. Alle Bände sonst in sehr gutem Zustand; Seiten sauber und nahezu fleckenfrei sowie ohne Bräunungen. Die Bände wurden augenscheinlich kaum benutzt. In toto sehr schönes, frisches Exemplar dieses einzigartigen botanischen Sammelwerkes des frühen 19. Jahrhunderts.
