But what is defined as a problem, and how are answers and solutions found In view of the climate catastrophe, the unjust distribution of wealth and the demand for liveable housing and urban spaces for all, often it is purely technical solutions that are promoted, meaning existing power relations are ignored. In contrast, we propose nonsolution, a politicised approach to the problem of finding a solution. We pick up the word nonsolution, and the conceptual outlook it stands for, from the writings of sociologist, historian and urban theorist Siegfried Kracauer, to open up spaces for thinking critically along the lines of radical democracy: solutions are not avoided, but rather an active nonsolution is pursued. The non marks the rejection of closed identities, the affirmation of conflict and opposition, and the entering of architecture into political alliances. With regard to housing and urban development against the pressure of capitalisation and exclusion, we combine planning activity with political theory to form a critique of architectural practice. 110 pp. Englisch.

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. "Dimensions. Journal of Architectural Knowledge" is an academic journal in, on, and from the discipline of architecture, addressing the creation, constitution, and transmission of architectural knowledge. It explores methods genuine to the discipline and architectural modes of interdisciplinary methodological adaptions. Processes, procedures, and results of knowledge creation and practice are esteemed coequally, with particular attention to the architectural design and epistemologies of aesthetic practice and research. Issue 09/2025 discusses how multidimensional and diverse forms of thinking, designing, and building disrupt and challenge existing paradigms in the field of architecture in times of multiple struggles - characterised by inequality, conflicts and exploitation of space. How do these changes impact architecture as a profession, practice, and discipline? How do spatial practitioners contribute to a more just spatial production including various voices and encouraging resource-saving urban practices? Referring to Audre Lorde we ask: "Are we doing the work?" This issue features contributions reflecting on collaborative practices, research and diverse forms of architectural knowledge in activism, the building of networks and alliances. Changing Spatial Practice: inter, trans and cross-disciplinary works on collective, feminist, just spatial practices beyond extractive architecture.
