Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates the enduring cultural fascination with loss, exploring its profound impact throughout history, art, literature, and human experience. By examining a range of case studies, from ancient Greek tragedies to contemporary bereavement rituals, the author traces the ways in which we have grappled with loss and its accompanying emotions, such as grief, sorrow, and regret. The book also delves into the therapeutic and transformative potential of loss, revealing the resilience and growth that can emerge from adversity. Ultimately, the author provides insights into the universality of human suffering and suggests ways to find meaning and purpose amidst loss. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Aggiungi al carrelloLeather. Condizione: Very Good. No Dust Jacket. First Edition Thus. Signatures: 4, a8-z8, 8, 8, 6, A7. Pagination: [4], IX-CCXIII [i.e. CCV] numbered leaves. Quarto, 2 columns. With beautiful large printers' mark of Jacques Huguetan on the title page, printing information on the last leaf. Small quarto in later beautiful full red morocco, raised bands, gilt edges, gilt dentilles, marbled endpapers. First and last blanks supplied at time of rebinding. Condition is quite lovely. Binding has normal minor wear. Front marbled endpaper has a scar from removal of an old sticker. Text is quite clean and the printing is lovely, bright and clear. Very little foxing or signs of use, one page has a printing error at the bottom edge with a few letters affected. Most paragraphs start with a large printed initial but occasionally that is missing and a guide initial -- or nothing -- fills that space. A very handsome copy of a surprisingly scarce book. The Vitaspatrum (Vitae Patrum) or Life of the Fathers is based on Saint Jerome's collection of three hagiographies of early Christian desert fathers, but "lives" of various Christian fathers and mothers were added over time. This 1502 post-incunable edition was printed for Nicholas Wolf of Lutrea (which may be in the Palatinate), who was shown in the tax rolls in Lyon as a printer from 1493 to 1512. He was, apparently, friends with Badius, and worked often with Jean Trechsel. Here he is printing for the well-known Huguetan, whose lovely device graces the title page. OCLC 1121511644; 4to 11" - 13" tall.…
