The boards are firm. and flat; there is a light green stain to front, a few light marks to rear and the spine ends are bumped. The end papers are very lightly foxed. The text block is beautifully illustrated by the author in black and white and colour. The pages are tightly bound, even and unmarked. Very good plus condition. No dedications etc. Overall condition of boards and text pages is very good minus because the boards to not match the condition of the pages. Without jacket.

Illustrated with numerous colour and black-and white images throughout, many of which are full-page. A collection of drawings and facts about different animals, with general information for children to learn about these fascinating creatures. With chapters on primates, rodents, cats, bears, whales, elephants, sloths, and much more. Written and illustrated by Hilary Stebbing, an English artist, illustrator and children's author. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Original unclipped dust wrapper is sound with light wear and chipping to the extremities. Small closed tears to the panel edges with a 2" closed tear to the front panel resulting in creasing. 3" closed tear to the rear panel has been repaired with tape. Light sunning to the spine with the odd mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good. book.

The WRAPPER is in Good only condition with large loss to the front cover and some lesser chips to the rear panel edges and spine ends. The wrapper is protected in a loose Mylar archival cover. As the wrapper design mimics that of the board covers, the loss to the front panel of the wrapper is lessened. Wonderfully illustrated throughout in colour by Hilary Stebbing. A complete set of the 8 Vols., all of which are in Very Good++ condition. Softcover format. Staples slightly rusty. Covers are a little marked and toned with a little creasing in places. Internally clean being free from erasures and inscriptions. Wonderful B/W and full page colour illustrations by the author throughout. Subsequently published at a later date in a one volume hardback edition by Cassell. This set is a scarce survivor and collectible with such attributes. More images available on request. Erste Ausgabe. Das zweite der drei phantastisch illustrierten Story Books, die Hilary Stebbing während des 2. Weltkriegs für "The Transatlantic Arts" schuf. H. Stebbing nutzte ihre Erfahrungen als Ambulanz-Fahrerin und andere autobiographische Details, die sie in die drei Bücher einflocht. Hier geht es um die Geschichte des kleinen Affen Montague Jeep, der Willy Winkler, einem gestrandeten Piloten hilft und in das rote Flugzeug einzieht. Pearson S. 77.
