Samuel Butler was an English novelist and critic best known for his novels The Way of All Flesh (1903) and Erewhon (1872). Miss E. M. A. Savage cultivated an important correspondence with Butler and was the subject of his three 'Sonnets on Miss Savage', which can be found at the rear of this work. This collection of their letters was published on the centenary of Butler's death. In the original publisher's binding with original unclipped dust wrapper.
