Die Bilder für den zweiten Band »Carrousel«, der von seiner Frau Henriette Väth-Hinz herausgegebenen Buch-Trilogie, hat er selbst für eine Ausstellung im Jahr 2015 ausgewählt. Sie entstanden hinter den Kulissen unzähliger Modenschauen vor allem in Paris, wo er dank seines Tickets als Stern-Fotograf Zugang zu Bereichen hatte, die normalen Fotojournalisten verschlossen blieben. Die Pariser Bilder, die zwischen den 1970er und 1990er-Jahren entstanden, werden ergänzt durch Aufnahmen aus Mailand, Florenz, London, New York, Peking, Shanghai, Moskau und Hamburg. Sie gewähren uns einen Blick hinter die Kulissen der Haute-Couture-Szene und zeigen Modeschöpfer mal privat, ganz »ungeschminkt«, aber auch in ihrer Funktion als Kunstfiguren. Von Karl Lagerfeld bis Thierry Mugler, von Yves Saint Laurent bis Claude Montana und Armani. Volker Hinz beobachtete viele der legendären Designer seiner Zeit. They were taken behind the scenes of countless fashion shows especially in Paris, where his ticket as a Stern photographer gave him access to areas that remained closed to ordinary photojournalists.
