Vorwort). - Albert Hoffa (1859-1907) habilitierte sich für Chirurgie in Würzburg und erhielt dort einen Lehrauftrag für Orthopädie, richtete eine chirurgisch-orthopädische Privatklinik ein und wurde 1902 als Nachfolger Julius Wolffs nach Berlin berufen. Die Behandlung der angeborenen Hüftgelenksverrenkung, für die er 1889 die erste blutige, nicht verstümmelnde Operationsmethode schuf, - die Therapie der Skoliose, Sehnenüberpflanzung, die Behandlung des Klump- und Plattfußes waren einige Schwerpunkte seiner Tätigkeit, die auch ausführlich im vorliegenden Werk behandelt und abgebildet werden (vgl. Fischer). "An Wolff's Stelle trat nach seinem Tode 1902 Albert Hoffa (1859-1907), welcher die Leitung der Poliklinik nur kurze Zeit behielt, da er bereits 1907 verschied. Während der Zeit seiner Amtsführung wurde die Anstalt in das der Charité angegliederte Haus Luisenstrasse 3 überführt, wo ihr wesentlich grössere Räumlichkeiten als bisher zur Verfügung gestellt wurden".
