Unusual in this volume of essays on Faust and Goethe are the comments on other Faust researchers: Karl Ernst Schubarth und die Anfänge der Fausterklärung (1938), reviews of Korff, Faustischer Glaube, and Ernst Beutler's Faust und Urfaust edition (1939).
