E. Brock's original 24 illustrations. Those included highlight both his skill as an illustrator of historical themes and his gentle sense of satire (evident from his work on Punch magazine).

Vol. 2 with minor pink blemish along parts of upper edges of both front and rear endpapers; associated slight fading of tint over innermost 4cm of top edge of text-block, contrasting only slightly with top edge beyond. Top edges of text-blocks of both volumes age-darkened, fore- & lower edges a little toned. Bindings holding firmly, contents generally clean and tight. Overall condition VERY GOOD.
