Le tableau, reste en mains privees jusqu'a ce jour, etait a peine connu et n'avait plus ete etudie ou examine depuis plusieurs decennies. C'est pourquoi, le Fonds du Patrimoine a confie au prof. Jos Koldeweij de la Radboud Universiteit de Nimegue et a Matthijs Ilsink, coordinateur du Bosch Research and Conservation Project a Bois-le-Duc, la realisation d'une etude critique et d'une analyse approfondie du panneau. Sie sind reich an Figuren, Fabelwesen und ungewöhnlichen Bildelementen, deren Deutungszusammenhang und Interpretation oft nicht gesichert sind.
