Nach ihrem Studium der Bildhauerei konzentrierte sie sich zunächst darauf, alltägliche Gegenstände nachzubilden. Sie beobachtete, wie René Magritte Dinge arrangierte, Giorgio de Chirico Licht… einsetzte oder Edward Hopper Schönheit im Banalen entdeckte. Inspiriert durch diese und andere Meister, kombiniert sie heute in ihrem Werk fiktionale Szenen mit realen Teilen, ganz wie in einer Erzählung oder in einem Traum. Der Band stellt eine Werkgruppe vor, für die Hyun Mi Yoo zuerst Skulpturen erschaffen hat, die sie anschließend im Fotostudio arrangiert und mit Ölfarben anmalt. Auf eine sorgfältige Bemalung, welche die ursprüngliche Materialität der Elemente aufhebt und sie verfremdet, werden genau auf den Raum abgestimmte Lichtreflexe aufgetragen, um die Komposition formal abzurunden. Anschließend werden die Arrangements fotografiert und nur in Ausnahmefällen digital nachbearbeitet. (Text engl.) 160 pp. Englisch.
