Cart. 40)". Entgegen der Darstellung Wilh. Ehrenzellers (Der Sturz Jost's von Silenen u. s. Prozess vor der Kurie, in: Jb. f. Schw. Gesch. 38/1913, pp. 73-120) zeigt der Fund aus Sitten jedoch, "dass kein Zweifel bestehen kann, dass [der Schiedsspruch] wirklich gefällt worden ist" (p. 1). - Jost von Silenen, Kt. Schwyz, war um 1482 zum Bischof von Sitten gewählt worden. [.] Aus dieser Zeit sind uns eine ganze Reihe von Streitschriften erhalten, worin die beiden Feinde einander aufs heftigste anklagen und ihre eigene Sache aufs beste zu verteidigen suchen. Einige dieser Parteischriften wurden bei den Gerichten zur Anklage oder Verteidigung eingereicht; andere sind als eigentliche Flugschriften aufzufassen [.]. [.] Nachstehend sei eine Klageschrift publiziert, die sich in einem Convolut gleichzeitiger eidgenössischer Abschiede im Staatsarchiv Freiburg vorfindet. Notar, Politiker, Ratsherr, Amtsträger und Kastlan. "Als Parteigänger Mailands förderte Supersaxo 1499 die Wahl Matthäus Schiners zum Bischof von Sitten. Angeblich nach grosszügigen Zahlungen wechselte er ab 1505 auf die französische Seite. [.] Es folgten lange Konflikte mit Schiner, die stellvertretend für die Spaltung der damaligen Eidgenossenschaft in ein franzosenfreundliches und ein kaiserlich-päpstliches Lager stehen. Im April 1510 erhob Supersaxo die Mazze gegen Schiner, der aber auf dem Walliser Landrat Supersaxos Verurteilung wegen Unterschlagung und Hochverrats erzwang. [.] Nach seiner [Georgs] Flucht nach Bern im Januar 1511 schwor er Urfehde, ging aber im Wallis wieder gewaltsam gegen Schiner und seine Anhänger vor. [.] [Schiner] verhängte im April 1512 den kleinen Kirchenbann über Supersaxo, der zur Klärung des Falls nach Rom reiste, dort inhaftiert und erst im Dez. 1515 freigelassen wurde. Die erneuten Feindseligkeiten im Wallis entwickelten sich zu bürgerkriegsähnlichen Exzessen. 1517 erging die Reichsacht über Supersaxo und sein Gefolge, 1519 erfolgte die Exkommunikation, 1526 deren Aufhebung.
