Extending in the North to Bowes Moor, in the South to a point South of Arncliffe, in the West to a point West of Gawthrop, and in the East Bedale.The engraved map is clean and free from any blemishes. The stiff green morocco grained cloth slip case retains the very slightly soiled original printed sellers ticket of ' James Wyld Cartographer to He Majesty, 457 Strand, Charing Cross, . ' The map folds down to 172mm x110mm. Overall both the map and slipcase are in a very good plus condition.' The maps in this series are the one-inch maps of England and Wales, published by the Ordnance Survey at various dates between 1805 and 1869; sheet 1 was actually published by William Faden in 1801. They subsequently became known as the 'Old Series'. The maps do not form a complete set.
