Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Behind the fascinating public artist's practice of collaboration Judith F. Baca is best known for the Great Wall of Los Angeles (197683), a vibrant 2,740-foot mural in Los Angeles that presents an alternative history of California-one that focuses on the contributions of marginalized and underrepresented communities. The mural is emblematic of Baca's pioneering approach to creating public art, a process in which members of the community are essential contributors to the conception and realization of the work.Anna Indych-Lpez explores Baca's oeuvre, from early murals painted with local gang members in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles to more recently commissioned works. She looks in depth at the Great Wall and considers the artist's ongoing work with the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) in Venice, California, a nonprofit group founded by Baca in 1976. Throughout, Indych-Lpez assesses what she calls Baca's "public art of contestation" and discusses how ideas of collaboration and authorship and issues of race, class, and gender have influenced and sustained Baca's art practice. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. DIEGO RIVERA MURALS FOR THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART 2011 HARD COVER PRISTINE. I am pleased to be able to offer a pristine copy of another of those extremely high-quality books in terms of content, technical presentation and book publishing, by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This one is titled: "Diego Rivera- Murals for the Museum of Modern Art" and was published as the catalogue for an exhibition of the same name held at MOMA on November 13, 2011, to May 14, 2012. I believe this is the First Printing of the First Edition. The exhibition was organized by Leah Dickerman, Curator of the Department of Painting and Sculpture and Anna Indych-Lopez an Associate Professor of Art History at City College New York. This large hard cover book (9 ¼ x 10 ¾ inches 148 pages) and was published by the Museum. The hard covers feature reproductions of the works of Diego Rivera and are protected by a half-width dust jacket band. The book is an in-depth discussion of the murals created by Diego Rivera for the MOMA in 1931 including preliminary drawings and associated discussion and studies. There are 84 color and 45 black-and-white illustrations. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. It is virtually like new inside and out, unmarked and unblemished in any way.
