The collected 'Nonsense' of Edward Lear (1812-88), artist, illustrator, musician, author and poet, now remembered mostly for his literary nonsense in poetry and prose and especially his limericks, a form he popularised. Quite a scarce book.

A very good copy, the binding square and firm, bright and fresh. The contents, spotting to the prelims and title page with a short closed tear to the bottom edge of the half title, and some pencilled marginalia and underlining throughout. In the very near fine, structurally sound solander box. One of the best-known works of Arthurian literature, in a unique craft binding.
