Leather. Condizione: Fair. 4th Edition. 6 volumes. The first 4 volumes comprise the Lexicon, while the last 2 comprise the Onomasticon. Volume I: A - C, LXXVII, (iii), 932pp., 19pp. (Appendix) (1965); Volume II: D - J, (iii), 975pp., 23pp. (Appendix), (i) (1965); Volume III: L - Q, (iii), 1032pp., 15pp. (Appendix) (1965); Volume IV: R - Z, (iii), 1054pp., 9pp. (Appendix), (i) (1965); Volume V: Onomasticon A - I, vii, 814pp., 26pp. (Appendix) (1965); Volume VI: Onomasticon L - Z, 788pp., 39pp. (Appendix), (i) (1965). This set is the second anastatic (a particular type of printing) printing of the 4th edition, 1864-1926. It was printed in Padua, with appendices that supplement the first anastatic printing that was published in 1940. This is an ex-library set. Volumes are uniformly bound in 1/2 vellum over burgundy cloth, with 2 labels to each spine - one in red and one in dark green, with each label stamped in gilt. Generally speaking, the interiors are in excellent condition and free of any markings aside from library treatments. The edges of pages admit to just a few, small, faint spots. Exteriors admit to a number of small bumps, including to boards and to edges of some leaves. Several of the volumes admit to small worn aeas and there are pieces of clear tape over several seams between the leather and cloth, though this isn't offensive. The labels on spines are all intact, with several admitting to some minor wear to edges. The front hinge of volume one is partially separated from the binding, but if the volume is handled with care, the volumes are nearly perfectly usable. The text block of volume 2 is slightly off, forcing a small section of leaves to not sit squarely at fore-edge. Again, this is not offensive. Overall, this is a nice, clean, sound, user-friendly set with nice paper that can provide many years of service. That being said, the bindings are good, but not great, such that the books should be set flat on shelves when not in use (as is common for many books like this) Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Book.
