Aggiungi al carrelloLeather. Condizione: Fine. None (illustratore). Seven volumes of Sumer, a journal of Iraqi archaeology produced by the Directorate-General of Antiquities. In English to the front of each volume, and Arabic to the rear. Illustrated with copious photographs and diagrams, with many large fold-out plates. Including a study of 'siege-engines' dating from 883-859BC by Dr. Tariq Madhloum. These were elaborate battering rams mounted on wheels and manned with a crew of soldiers. A further article describes the flint and obsidian implements of Tell es-Sawwan and is illustrated with many interesting photographs of excavated tools. This ancient city was the subject of extensive study between 1964 and 1971 and many of the findings are detailed in this set. Rebound in half calf bindings with printed marbled paper covered boards and original paper wraps bound in. Externally, lovely condition. Internally, generally firmly bound. One or two fold-out plates have become detached, but are present. Some pages are unopened and previous attempts to open them have resulted in slight marginal tears and loss. There are slight marks to the original paper wraps, slight occasional curling and stab holes to some gutters from the original paper binding. Generally bright and clean except for the odd mark. Fine. book.

Aggiungi al carrelloFolio (216 x 330 mm). (7) mimeographed ff. Stapled. A founding document of the Bahrain State administrative apparatus: Decree Number 1 of 1970, establishing the State Council, which was then the cabinet and replaced the former Executive Council established in 1956. The Council was entrusted with carrying out all tasks and responsibilities of managing and organizing the country's executive affairs, including matters related to state finances represented in preparing the state's general budget and developing the national economy. Decree Number 1 was subsequently followed by the issuance of many decrees and resolutions regulating the Government executive apparatus, three of which are also present here: Decrees Number 2 and 3 of 1970, establishing various ministries and deciding upon suitable personnel, and eventually Decree Number 2 of 1971, enlarging the Ministry of Planning and National Economy to incorporate departments of planning and employment, customs and excise, trade and industry, and a department of tourism. - Very slightly creased. A rare survival. - Personal copy of Dr. Hussain Mohammed Al Bahama, legal advisor to the State Council, with his business card stapled to the upper left corner. A signed handwritten note on the reverse of the card indicates that in 1971 he gifted the present set of documents to Ahmed Hassan El-Feki (Elfiky), the Egyptian Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
