Identified in an unknown and as "Birds of a Feather" at bottom left of the page with the words and date "Modella 1882" penned by Bimboni at top right. The composer has signed… and dated the quotation under the last line of music, "Oreste Bimboni / Boston Hall / 1 May 1902". Near fine. A RARE autograph. The conductor and opera composer Oreste Bimboni (1846-1905) was, with his nephew Alberto, part of a long legacy of Florentine musicians. Both spent an extensive time abroad, especially in the United States. As an opera conductor in Florence, Oreste worked with some of the most significant singers of his time such as Adelina Patti and Emma Calve. He is first recorded as arriving in the United States in 1896. He moved to California in 1898 where he conducted opera. He moved back to the United States in 1902, after spending some time in Florence, and taught at the New England Conservatory for three years before moving back to Europe.

Aggiungi al carrelloCondizione: Good. - Over 39 words penned on a 7 inch high by 4-3/8 inch wide sheet of buff paper with an attached blank leaf. Michael Costa writes to arrange a meeting with the recipient: "On Thursday I am engaged in the morning, but if you can come in the afternoon at 1/2 past three o'clock." He then closes with "Hoping your co…ld is better, believe me truly yours", signed "M. Costa". Folded twice horizontally for mailing, the letter is slightly soiled. Remnants of gray paper adhering to the right edge of the verso of the blank page would suggest that the letter was once mounted in an album. Good. The Italian-born conductor and composer Michael Costa (1808-1884) studied in Naples with his father at the Real Collegia di Musica and later with Niccolo Antonio Zingarelli. Although most of his works disappeared into obscurity, he composed a significant number of operas, symphonies and cantatas. After a visit to Birmingham, he settled in England. In 1830, working as a conductor at His Majesty's Theatre, Costa was able to influence many changes there and subsequently at Covent Garden. He was admired by Meyerbeer and Verdi. Having conducted several orchestras, he took on English citizenship and was subsequently knighted in 1869. Among those compositions which survived are his ballets "Kenilworth", "Une Heure a Naples", "Sir Huon" and "Alma". His operas "Malek Adhel" and "Don Carlos" were produced in Paris and London.

He was known mostly for his work in the Italian operatic repertoire, especially Puccini and Verdi.After graduating in 1933, he took up conducting, and was leading the Orchestra Sinfonica dell' EIAR by the early 1940s. In 1946, he took first pri…ze in a conducting competition with Tullio Serafin heading the jury. He was soon recording and performing at the world's major opera houses with the leading singers of the day, including Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi, Price, Tucker, Giorgio Tozzi, and Giuseppe di Stefano. While his reputation was still on the ascent, he was killed in a car accident in 1968 at the age of 54. Sprache: de.

Bilingual in Italian and Turkish. 3, [1] p., signature on cover. Program of Zecchi (as a pianist) and Nerio Brunelli (as a violoncellist) which was performed in Constantinople (Istanbul), Beyoglu i…n 1933 (Lunedi 17 Aprile, alle ore 21,30). The program has a decorative cover with its decorative borders and has a couple of postal stamps on its second page (One is Ottoman, one is the Republican Turkey stamp). According to the program, Zecchi and Brunelli performed Mozart, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Varacini, Boccherini, Respighi, Casella, Chopin, Dunkler Brunelli, and R. Strauss. Carlo Zecchi was an Italian pianist, music teacher, and conductor. Zecchi was born in Rome. In Berlin, he studied piano with Ferruccio Busoni and Artur Schnabel. He led pianistic courses in Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome, and in Salzburg. He was a highly acclaimed performer of the works of Domenico Scarlatti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Claude Debussy, and other Romantic music. Carlo Zecchi made his Italian debut in 1920, first performed abroad in 1922, and made his first tour of the USA in 1931. In 1939 he had a car accident, which obliged him to abandon work as a soloist, although he continued playing the most demanding chamber music and conducting. He played as only as of the duo partner of the cellist Enrico Mainardi. He toured America with the Florence May Festival Orchestra in 1957 and was the permanent conductor of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra from 1964 to 1976. In his last years, two fingers on his left hand were paralyzed, yet he performed Schubert's Trout Quintet. He also taught, mostly at the S. Cecilia Academy in Rome and the Salzburg Mozarteum. Luckily several hours of Carlo Zecchi's playing were recorded, and he also made several recordings shortly before his death. His Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, and pieces from the Baroque era, such as Antonio Vivaldi-J.S. Bach Concerto, Scarlatti, and Galilei remain unparalleled.
