Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the evolution of the Vienna City Charter, a foundational legal document that shaped the city's governance and society during the Middle Ages. The author traces the historical development of the charter, examining its profound influence on the city's autonomy, commercial vitality, and the protection of individual rights. Many of the charter's progressive principles, such as the elimination of social distinctions, the protection of personal property, and the establishment of a fair and impartial legal system, laid the groundwork for the development of modern democratic societies. This book is an essential resource for scholars of legal history, urban planning, and the development of civil liberties in Europe. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the foundational principles of German mining law as it evolved during the medieval period, tracing its origins to the celebrated mining practices and legal codes developed by the miners and jurists of the Iglau region in Bohemia. The author analyzes the ways in which the Iglau mining laws spread throughout Europe and influenced the development of mining legislation in such diverse places as Freiberg in Saxony, Schemnitz in Hungary, and Joachimsthal in Bohemia. By examining a rich corpus of charters, Schà ppensprüche, and other legal documents from various archives, the author reconstructs the intricate social and economic relationships that shaped the development of medieval mining law.
