Anthony Stout (1933-1998) earned both bachelor's and master's degrees as well as completing some doctorial work all at Harvard with four years in Africa under the aegis of the Ford Foundation where he gained expertise in modern sculpture of the Makonde (as the ethnic group is called in Tanzania) or Maconde (in Mozambique) people. Stout was also a noted collector of English and American glass and a fellow of the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.…
