A. Dyde to arrange one on 'Surgery of the Heart.' He willingly accepted this task and has also been joint Editor. This book reproduces as faithfully as possible the papers and the discussion on the various subjects included in the Coventry conference. The simple title 'Surgery of the Heart' could be expanded to include the blood vessels. Especially important is the anatomy of the various combinations and permutations of the pulmonary and systemic vessels. These playa major role in the production of pulmonary hypertension. First class investigations by radiologists, and physiologists ascertain the precise situation which the surgeon will expect to find when he opens the chest; indeed will help him to make the right approach. Mr. W. G. Williams helped with the social programme which enabled people to meet people. Mr. A. Martin gave us valuable help in taping the recordings which Mrs. J. Jelley and Mrs. V. Two volumes bound together in one volume, comprising: The History and Antiquities of Tewkesbury, to which is prefixed, a descriptive sketch of Gloucestershire by W. Dyde (Mess. Longman and Rees; London; 1803; third edition) Devonshire: The Beauties of Sidmouth Displayed; being a Descriptive Sketch of its Situation, Salubrity, and Picturesque Scenery. Also an Account of the Environs, within Fifteen Miles Round by J. Wallis (Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme; London; 1811) The volume on Sidmouth is illustrated, but the plates for the volume on Tewkesbury were published separately with the large octavo edition. Illustrated with a folding frontispiece and a folding map to the volume on Sidmouth. Collated, complete. The volume on Tewkesbury explores the development of the town, including the history of the abbey and abbey church, and of various other public institutions, such as the grammar school. The volume on Sidmouth, which is a scarce volume, is divided into two parts, with a history and description of Sidmouth in the first part, and a history and description of surrounding towns in the second part. In a half morocco binding. Externally sound, with shelf wear to the boards and splitting to the front joint. Rubbing to the joints, extremities and head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is slightly strained but is held firmly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, except for a little offsetting to the text of the Sidmouth volume.
