Navy blue cloth hardcover binding with gold lettering on spine. Spine faded. Pages cut by hand, with a few tears. One of the publications of the Hudson's Bay Record Society after its break with the Champlain Society who published the Society's first twelve volumes (1938-1949). Dr. John Rae (1813-1893)was a Scottish physician and explorer who surveyed parts of Northern Canada, including the Northwest Passage, the Arctic coast near Victoria Island, and the Gulf of Boothia near Hudson's Bay. This book contains notes from his three Arctic journeys as well as his journey in 1854 to discover the fate of the Franklin Expedition.
