The book quotes the film "I Know Where I'm Going" which was released in 1945 and the railway information is pre-nationalisation quoting the LMS and LNER and suggesting travelling by train to some places closed in the very early years of nationalisation. 48pp on rather poor quality war standard paper and illustrated with black and white photographs plus a map across the centre pages. Good condition and no rusty staples. Small corner missing from title page top right., Book weighs 51g. James William Herries was a Scottish journalist, and was chief reporter for The Scotsman newspaper in the 1930s and '40s. In this book he describes a journey he made along the rivers Tweed and Tay in a skin-covered coracle. The book is bound in the original grey cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling and a little staining on the boards. The top of the spine is lightly bumped and there is slightly heavier bumping to the bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with browning to the free endpapers and a name and date (1925) has been written on the front free endpaper.
