Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Jason Scream was supposed to disappear. After fleeing north, hunted by the FBI, Vermont was never part of the plan. It was just a place to pass through. Quiet. Forgettable. Then a boy vanished. Evan Lark, seventeen, strange, invisible to everyone who mattered. The kind of kid people talk about only after it's too late. The official story is simple. Too simple. And Jason has learned the hard way that simple stories usually hide something rotten underneath. As he digs into a small town that prefers silence to truth, Jason begins to see patterns others have chosen not to notice. Men who pass through regularly. Questions no one asks. Woods that don't lie, even when people do. Jason isn't a cop.He isn't a hero. And he's done running. Cold Return is a gritty, atmospheric thriller about disappearance, complicity, and what happens when the wrong man decides to stop walking away. Some pasts don't stay buried. They hunt back. About the Author Jack H. Sloane writes noir and thriller fiction focused on disappearances, moral gray zones, and characters who live on the edges of society. His stories explore what happens when silence becomes complicity, and when the wrong person decides to stop walking away.Cold Return is his debut novel. A scarce, unnumbered issue of a 'zine apparently written and published by the film critic Jack Stevenson while he lived in Boston during the 1980s. The 'zine is primarily a compilation of newspaper articles and photographs of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, although it begins with a laudatory testimonial by Stevenson who describes Amin as an Ubermensch with a voracious appetite and unquenchable virility. He writes, "Whether showing up at the battlefront in his favorite sportscar as shells exploded around him like so much harmless well placed Hollywood pyrotechnics, or cheating in a swimming pool race or carried in a sedan by 4 white businessmen or awarding himself an honorary degree at some University, Amin possessed a glorious sense of style that held the world captive." Stevenson's stamp follows the testimonial, otherwise there is no identifying publication information. Included are two full-page illustrations of Amin, one by Mike Matthews and the other by underground artist R. K. Sloane. A subsequent issued was planned on Gilles de Rais, although we find no evidence that it - or any preceding issues - were published. Stapled, glossy wrappers (11" x 8 ½"), [28] pp., illus. Staples rusty, else a fine copy. No record for this title in WorldCat, although we find a copy of this issue in an underground magazine collection at the Cleveland Public Library. Scarce.

Eventually however the time comes in everyone's existence to put pen to paper and share your thoughts, experiences and knowledge to all around you. These are the thoughts and scribblings of G.od.The questions are these actually words and thoughts as written down by God or the insane gibberish of a slightly unhinged man The only evidence is that these words were taken directly from large stone tablets found hidden on a mountain lost for generations and now made available to the whole world in an easier readable format as large sandstone tablets make for uncomfortable bedtime reading.
