Standardwerk der bedeutenden ungarisch-amerikanischen Psychiaterin und Humanistin (1919-2011). Sie arbeitete zuerst an der psychiatrischen Abteilung der Universität Pécs, deren kommissarische Leitung sie später übernahm. An Hand der dortigen Sammlung von ungefähr 2000 Zeichnungen geistig Erkrankter und 15 ausführlichen Fallschilderungen entstand dann vorliegendes Buch. Danach war sie Dozentin an der Pariser Sorbonne und arbeitete an der Neurologischen Klinik der Universität Zürich, bevor sie in die USA auswanderte. Dort lehrte sie u.a an der Havard University und der University of Pittsburgh, wo sie 1974-82 ein Programm für geistig zurückgebliebene und emotional gestörte Kinder leitete. Sie war nach ihrer Emeritierung bis ins hohe Alter weiterhin tätig und stand noch mit 91 Jahren auf der Dozentenliste von Havard! Interessantes Detail: in den 1970er-Jahren analysierte sie Kunstwerke des Nachtclubbesitzers Jack Ruby, die dieser im Gefängnis geschaffen hatte. Ruby hatte nach dem tödlichen Anschlag auf Präsident John F. Kennedy den mutmaßlichen Kennedy-Mörder Lee Harvey Oswald erschossen. Sprache: de.
