Trotz zahlloser Arbeiten uber das Papstwahldekret von 1059 ist dessen handschriftliche Uberlieferung ungenugend erforscht. Diese Lucke will die vorliegende Arbeit schliessen. Im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchung steht eine Handschrift franzosischen Ursprungs in Bergamo, die das echte Papstwahldekret mitsamt den Unterschriften der Kardinale und Bischofe uberliefert, die bisher nur aus der verfalschten Fassung bekannt waren. Daraus sowie aus unbeachtet gebliebenen Codices der verfalschten Fassung und anderen mit der Lateransynode zusammenhangenden Dokumenten ergibt sich, dass Hildebrand, der nachmalige Papst Gregor VII., das Papstwahldekret nicht unterschrieben hat. Die verbreiterte Handschriftenbasis macht eine Neubewertung der Zusammenhange der Codices der verfalschten Fassung sowie ein naheres Eingehen auf Kurzformen beider Fassungen moglich. Einige nur in der Falschung uberlieferte Passagen des Dekrets werden als Zutat der Falscher erwiesen und die Fragen nach Absicht und Entstehung der Verfalschung neu untersucht. Ein Textanhang bietet eine Neuedition des Papstwahldekrets in der echten und verfalschten Fassung sowie der bisher bekannten Kurzfassungen. Ein Register erschliesst das Werk.…
