Paperback. Condizione: Fine. First Printing. Octavo, 256 pages, pictorial wrappers Rubin was co-founder of the Yippie movement and a defendant in the Conspiracy 7 Trial after Chicago's '68 Democratic Convention. Rubin subsequently became a practitioner in the human growth potential movements of the '70s. He tells of the making of a Sixties radical and the making of a dissident, and back again. DO IT! is a declaration of war between the generations. It is a handbook for American revolutionaries comparable to Che Guevara's GUERILLA WARFARE; it is a frenzied emotioinal symphony for a new social disorder; a comic book for seven-year-olds; a tribute to insanity. It recommends that you read the book stoned. Rubin was a sports reporter before he became radicalized.

Condizione sovraccoperta: dj. First Edition. First edition and first printing. Hardcover. 256 pages. An interesting book from this important social activist. Features an introduction by Eldridge Cleaver. Includes numerous black and white illustrations An interesting copy as though it isn't signed it came from the estate/library of literary and cultural critic John Leonard who obviously engaged with the book as he creased numerous corners and made some marks in the margins. Otherwise a very good copy in a very good dust jacket with some chipping to the top of the spine and some other wear.

Folio. Designed by A. Kitt. Folio. A coalition of seemingly strange bedfellows - Eldridge Cleaver and the Black Panthers; Abby Hoffman and Jerry Rubin of the Youth International Party (better known as the Yippies) - unite on this poster calling for national activism on the day of the upcoming 1968 election, held on November 5th that year. To kick things off, the front of the poster - illustrated with both a hookah and a shotgun - announces a "Pre-Erection Day Party" on November 1st at the Berkeley Community Theatre, featuring Cleaver, Rubin, Phil Ochs, and the Floating Lotus Magic Opera Company. On the verso, decorated with additional firearms drawings, a central panel declares that the manifestos on either side of it - one by Cleaver, the other co-written by Rubin, Hoffman, and Stew Albert - are the "Opening Salvos from a Black-White Gun," and further declares: "Following are two statements on the same subject by madmen grappling with the cause of their madness in search of a cure. We have been driven out of the political arena into the wilderness of our own dumb minds. We will not dissent from the American Government. We will overthrow it." The autograph notation on the front, "4 PM / 102 Wooster," possibly references one of the protest gatherings this poster calls for. In remarkably fine condition. Folio, printed in purple on pink paper, recto and verso; illustrated; folded into quadrants; one small autograph notation on front; fine.
