Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Lonesome Lover is a waltz ballad released in 1930. It was a huge hit for Guy Lombardo and was recorded by several orchestras afterwards. It was written by Al Bryan and Jimmie Monaco. Al Bryan (1871-1958) was a prolific Canadian lyricist most famous for Peg o My Heart and numerous war-time ballads. He spent most of his career in Hollywood. Jimmie Monaco (1885-1945) is best known for You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It), but he spent most of his career in Hollywood, producing music for Bing Crosby. Multi-part edition including Solos or duets for Saxophones (and other B flat, E flat, C instruments), Tenor Banjo, Hawaiian Guitar, Accompaniments for banjo & guitar (by lettered chords) and ukulele. 3 pages plus cover. Grant Clarke (1891-1931) wrote the classic hits "Am I Blue?" and "Second Hand Rose." Lyricist Joseph McCarthy (1885-1943) wrote the 1919 hit "Alice Blue Gown." The Italian-born Tin Pan Alley composer James V. (Jimmie) Monaco (1885-1945) had his first published composition in 1911. He composed music for both stage and early screen and wrote the big Al Jolson hit "You Made Me Love You," later reprised by Judy Garland.…

A novelty songbook for the combined Wild West shows of Buffalo Bill and Pawnee Bill, Buffalo Bill's Wild West and Pawnee Bill's Great Far East, also called the "Two Bills Show." The alternate title on the back cover is Buffalo Bill's and Pawnee Bill's Big Minstrels Song and Joke Book. The inside cover contains "Cracker-Jack Conundrums," a collection of two-line jokes, and the back has "A Dictionary of Dreams and Their Meanings." The songbook's cover illustration shows a caricature of a Native American chief on horseback, with an inset portrait of "Buffalo Bill" Cody and "Pawnee Bill." Born Gordon Lillie in Bloomington, Illinois, Pawnee Bill got his start in Wild West shows working as Buffalo Bill's Pawnee interpreter. He launched his own show in 1888 with his wife, May Manning, which expanded to include the "eastern" element mentioned in this songbook's title, with Mexican cowboys such as the popular "Mexican Joe" (Jose Barrera) and Pawnee performers alongside Japanese and Arab acts. We find no copies of the songbook on OCLC. 16 pp songbook measuring 10 x 13 ½ inches, in paper wraps. Wraps worn especially at edges, with wrinkling and several large folds; very good minus.
