Rotterdam, Nai010, [2014]. 272 pp. Col. & b./w. ills. Orig. hardcover (pictorial boards). 4to.Comprehensive overview of the life and work of the Dutch architect Joan Melchior van der Meij (1878-1949). - Text in Dutch. - - Joan Melchior van der Meij (1878-1949) is known as one of the founders of the Amsterdam School. Architectural historian Michiel Kruidenier and designer Paul Smeets examine Van der Meij's role within the Amsterdam School and Dutch architectural history using countless previously unpublished drawings, letters, and photographs. The book describes Van der Meij's turbulent life, full of fame and success, misfortune and financial troubles, and also contains a complete overview of his work.…
