A work by John Aubrey, an English antiquary, writer, and natural philosopher who was also a pioneer in the field of archaeology as he recorded numerous megalithic field monuments in southern England, for the first time. Corrected and enlarged by John Edward Jackson, an English clergyman of the Church of England, antiquary, and archivist. The volume provides a detailed topographical study of Wiltshire, with chapters on Bradford, Chippenham, Highworth, Kingsbridge, Malmesbury, Dunworth, Selkley, and Westbury. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, fading to spine, with bumping to the head and tail. Light rubbing to joints and extremities. Odd mark to boards. Front hinge failed. Ink inscription to front paste down. Internally, mostly firmly bound. Pages up to frontispiece split from text block, still bound to the endpapers. Frontispiece loosening.
