Just a hint of shelf/edge wear to dark brown cloth spine over tan paper boards with black titles and illustration - corners sharp. Previous owner name at bottom of FFEP and stamp from Dennen's Book Shop of Detroit, Mich as well. All pages are clean and unmarked. Deckled edges. With an intro. By John T. McCutcheon. Short story based on a young American soldier's attempt to flee from his posting in the First World War. Witnessed by the author and McCutcheon himself. Richard Harding Davis (April 18, 1864 ? April 11, 1916) was an American journalist and writer of fiction and drama, known foremost as the first American war correspondent to cover the Spanish?American War, the Second Boer War, and the First World War. His writing greatly assisted the political career of Theodore Roosevelt. He also played a major role in the evolution of the American magazine. A superb First Edition minus the DJ published near the end of the First World War. LOC SSS-17.
