Vintage press photograph of Lyndon B. Johnson speaking at the 1956 Democratic National Convention at Chicago's International Ampitheatre. Date stamped August 18, 1956, with a newspaper clipping affixed to the verso. Johnson unsuccessfully ran for the presidential nomination, which ultimately went to Adlai Stevenson, and spoke in support of John F. Kennedy as the vice presidential nominee, which ultimately went to Estes Kefauver. From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969. 7.5 x 10.25 inches, archivally mounted in a white mat measuring 14 x 18 inches. Very Good, moderately wavy, with touchups on the recto.
