Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of poems that celebrate the town of Shotley Bridge and the surrounding area. The author's intimate knowledge of the town allows him to capture the essence of the town and its people. From the famous Shotley Bridge that spans the River Derwent, to the picturesque Shotley Spa Well, the author brings the area to life through vivid imagery and thoughtful reflections. Some of the poems provide historical context to the area such as the German refugees who settled in the town in the 17th century and established the town's cutlery industry. The book also explores broader themes of nature, faith, and mortality. Throughout, the author's love of the area shines through, making this book a must-read for anyone interested in the history and beauty of Shotley Bridge and its surroundings.
