Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into a fascinating historical event that transpired in 1594, when Jean Chastel, a student at the Jesuit college in Paris, attempted to assassinate King Henry IV of France. This incident sparked outrage and accusations against the Jesuit order, leading to their banishment from France by the Parliament of Paris. Drawing on primary sources, the author meticulously reconstructs the events surrounding Chastel's plot, examining the role of the Jesuits and their alleged involvement in the scheme. The book explores the complex political and religious climate of late 16th-century France, delving into the tensions between the monarchy and the Catholic Church, as well as the ongoing struggle between Protestantism and Catholicism. This book offers a nuanced and detailed account of a pivotal moment in French history, shedding light on the interplay between religious beliefs, political power, and the pursuit of justice. It is a valuable resource for scholars interested in the history of religion, politics, and the law, as well as for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of this intriguing chapter in European history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

A Liège, s.é., 1713. (in Peignot). (in Avertissement). …
