Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Very Good. French Grammar in Context presents a unique and exciting approach to learning grammar. Authentic texts from a rich variety of sources, literary and journalistic, are used as the starting point for the illustration and explanation of key areas of French grammar. Each point is consolidated with a wide range of written and spoken exercises. Grammar is presented not as an end in itself, but as a tool essential to enjoying French, understanding native speakers and to communicating effectively with them. Literary texts and poems are taken from works by renowned French authors such as Albert Camus, Zola, Andre Malraux, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Stendhal and Jacques Prevert. News sources include Liberation, Le Point, Marianne and Le Monde Diplomatique, in addition to articles from regional papers such as Ouest-France and La Voix du Nord. Lifestyle articles are included from Marie Claire and Elle. This third edition has been updated with literary extracts from Francophone writers, such as Joseph Zobel and Frantz Fanon. New journalistic extracts and text-based exercises are also included. French Grammar in Context is aimed at intermediate and advanced students and is ideal for both individual and tutor-led study. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

The second volume presenting the results of researches at Gabati in central Sudan is concerned with the physical anthropology. The book consists of two parts. Part I details the analysis of the skeletons excavated at Gabati and summarises their general health and lifestyle. An in-depth social interpretation is not the intention of this analysis, but rather it forms an anthropological foundation to invite further research. Chapters 2-6 present the methods and results of inventory, demography and palaeopathology. Chapter synthesises these results to impart an impression of life and health experienced at Gabati during the Meroitic, post-Meroitic and medieval periods. Chapter 8 situates the site and funerary program within the broader context of Nubian archaeology. Part II presents the skeletal catalogue of osteobiographical information for each individual and lists the unassociated skeletal remains, if any, for each tomb. The appendices include preservation tables, individual data tables, descrAtive statistics for metrical data, frequency tables for non-metric traits and finally the plates.

During his time as an editor of the ISCC News Letter from 1936 to 1954 the color scientist I.H. Godlove collected publications on color theory and practice and inserted the results at the end of nearly every issue of the ISCC News Letter. Before his death in 1954 he had started to prepare a subject index for this bibliography. After his death his widow Margaret N. Godlove conceived the idea of carrying out the purpose of this subject index by publishing the entire bibliography anew arranged according to this subject breakdown. With the support of the ISCC, in particular the Council members F.L. Dimmick, R.M. Evans, D.B. Judd, E.I. Stearns, Godlove was able to bring the project to fruition and publish the bibliography in 1957. The notes made by Dr. Godlove, amplifying the titles of many of the references, have been reproduced without change. Contains index of authors at rear. Artist name (Samuel Kamen) inked to upper right of front cover. Wraps with very light wear. Binding and interior in overall very good condition.
