The book is intended for parents, teachers and school officers, to wit: ".though it is difficult for any one to foresee for any child the terrible degradation which makes so great a contrast between the purity of childhood and the besotted condition of the inebriate.There is, however, a moral certainty that a large proportion of the children under your care, if they get no special teaching in this line, will be greatly injured by alcoholic liquors and in many cases their prospects will be ruined and their lives lost." The hard covers are generally clean and very presentable with bright gilt titles on the spine and some slight bumping to the corners and spine tips. Inside, the book is unmarked although there is a light tide line along the right hand margin of the early pages which disipates by the time you reach page 40, and in any case, never affects the text.
