Dezember 1870 überläßt Alsleben einige seiner Kompositionen darunter den Sedaner Marsch" und den Großen Siegermarsch" der Schlesinger'schen Buch- und Musikalienhandlung in Berlin eigenthümlich für alle Länder". Der…mit 1. Dezember 1866 datierende Vertrag, mitunterzeichnet von dem Musikverleger Robert Emil Lienau (18381920), dem damaligen Inhaber der Schlesinger'schen Buch- und Musikalienhandlung, regelt die näheren Umstände eines neu zu schaffenden Beiblattes zu der von Lienau seit 1851 herausgegebenen Musikzeitschrift Echo": [.] 2.) Den Inhalt desselben liefert der Praesident [des Berliner Tonkünstlervereins] Herr Dr. Alsleben und besteht dieser Inhalt aus [.] Vorträgen od. Artikeln [.] Recensionen über literarische musik. Werke [.] Chronic des Vereins, Sitzungsberichte, Concertanzeigen etc. [.]". Nach dem Studium der Orientalistik in Berlin und seiner Promotion in Kiel widmete sich Julius Alsleben gänzlich der Musik, studierte u. a. bei Siegfried Dehn und ließ sich nach Beendigung seiner musikalischen Ausbildung in Berlin als Klavierlehrer nieder. 1865 wurde er Vorsitzender des Berliner Tonkünstlervereins, 1872 erhielt er den Professortitel; 1879 war er Mitbegründer des Musiklehrervereins und wurde dessen Vorsitzender. Daneben war Alsleben als Redakteur der Zeitschrift Harmonie" tätig und veröffentlichte u. a. ein Kleines Tonkünstlerlexikon" (1864). Der Vertrag papierbedingt etwas gebräunt und mit stärkeren Läsuren; jeweils mit kleinem zeitgenössischem Eingangsvermerk auf der Verso-Seite.
