Frakturschrift. -- (Auszug:) Vorwort. Da die Grundsäße, nach denen die von mir herausgegebene Sammlung geistlicher Lieber der Evangelischen Kirche aus dem sechszehnten Jahrhundert (Berlin, Ad. Enslin. 1855. 8. 3 Bde.) bearbeitet worden ist, vielfach theilnehmende Zustimmung gefunden haben und ich von Männern, deren Wort für mich bestimmend sein durfte, zur weiteren Veröffentlichung meiner hymnologischen Arbeiten aufgefordert worden bin, so fühle ich mich ermuthiget, im Anschluß an die oben gedachte Sammlung das vorliegende Werk der Deffentlichkeit zu übergeben, zu dem ich mich durch langjährige Sammlungen und Studien gerüstet habe. Der Plan des Werkes wird mit Nothwendigkeit bedingt durch den Begriff ber Hymnologie als Wissenschaft. Dieselbe umfaßt, abgesehen von den Hülfsbisciplinen, namentlich der Heuristik und Topik und der Literaturgeschichte, zwei Haupttheile, erstens die Lehre von den geistlichen Liedern nach ihrer Substanz und zweitens die Lehre von den geistlichen Liedern nach ihrer Verwendung.
