Octavo, 40pp. Original paper wraps, bound at the center with two staples. Faint dampstain along fore edge of the front few leaves, no impact to text block. Faint soiling to rear cover. Signed by author Wallace Stevens on the title page. Wallace Stevens (1879?1955) was an American modernist poet known for his complex and philosophical verse. He was recognized at the 1952 Columbia University Commencement with an Honorary Doctor of Letters alongside historian Daniel Mornet. Stevens later received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1955.

Frederick Nicholls music teacher, composer and poet was active especially between the two wars, was noted for his songs to quality lyrics, like Tears, Idle Tears, Elaine's Song, As Through the Land, Thy Voice is Heard, Blow, Bugle Blow, Eldorado and especially popular, the five songs from A Child's Garden of Verses; but he published instrumental miniatures as well like the Two Short Pieces (Meadow Dance and Dancing Midges) of 1938 for piano solo. This extensive collection of hand written music manuscripts and books, including a one volume preparation for a book about WW1. Also, signed, amicable copyright fee correspondence from various poets. In one set of two SIGNED letters from Harold E. Goad dated May 1922, the poet goes into detail about how he wants to change certain lines of his 'Spring's Sacrifice' poem as it had been published in 'The Oxford Book of English Mystical Verse' in its 'not quite finished form'. He then goes on to write which alterations he wishes to be made and asks Frederick Nicholls to make these changes as used in his musical version. His request didn't quite make it to Oxford -the poem still being displayed in its 'initial' form. The illustrated monthly, Altneuland (same name as Herzl's book) deals with matters relating to Eretz Israel and was intended to familiarize Jews in Poland with Jewish Life in Israel. It started as a monthly in 1919, became a bi-weekly, and ceased publication in 1925. Avraham Itzhak Triwaks was a journalist, Hebrew and Yiddish author, publisher and book distributor in Warsaw and Israel. At age 9 he and his family immigrated to Eretz Israel, where as an adult he served as the correspondent in Eretz Israel for the Warsaw daily Unser Leben. He traveled to Russia in 1910, lived for a while in the city Rovno (Rowne in Polish, now known as Rivne) in Wolyn in western Ukraine. He then settled in Warsaw, was a member of the administration of the dailies Haint and Dos Yidishe Folk, and he published hundreds of articles about Eretz Israel in the Di Yidish Vokh and the Hebrew newspaper Hatzfira. He traveled through cities in Poland and the Ukraine to organize the distribution of Yiddish and Hebrew works by the publisher Central Merkaz that was founded in 1911. In 1916 while in Warsaw that was under German occupation (WWI), he published a Yiddish German dictionary as an aid to the Jewish population, but only the Yiddish to German volume was published. In 1917 he began to publish a pocket dictionary in Yiddish of which the first 4 volumes were published. He settled permanently in Eretz Israel in 1924. His literary and publishing activities deserve a book in and of itself.
