This event should be the beginning of a yoke of suppression of blacks lasting nearly 250 years in order to work for the ¿white man¿s¿ fortune in the newly founded colonies in North America and the West Indies. In this ¿dark chapter¿ of history many of the slaves were driven to death by starving, exhaustion, beating or diseases. Legally they were not even considered as humans, but as mere properties.Regarding the American and Caribbean Colonies, certain differences occurred in economies, life conditions and social structure of slaves. Consequently my research will deal with the description and the comparison of ¿black history¿ from the beginnings (early 17th century) until the end of slavery in America and the West Indies. After having a look at the historical background, I intend to examine some crucial questions, for instance: Why did slavery in America develop in a different way than in the Caribbean Or: Why did so many elements of the African culture survive until today on the West Indies, whereas an ¿African-American Culture¿ developed in North America.

London set the tone for nearly everything - fashion, worn in London, was imitated in other provincial towns. The city became a metropolis - a place of consumption. But on the other hand, London's big-city appearance had some unwelcome side effects. According to industrial production the city was covered by fog nearly everyday. Streets and other public places were noisy and dirty and a terrible smell, like in Paris at that time, must have filled the air. Many people neglected their religious belief and some of them might even have lost their belief in God. Wordsworth probably wanted to make people aware that there is something more than the big-city life which is connected with hard work for the lower classes and a life of decadence which the upper classes enjoyed.

As a matter of fact, nearly six million Jews perished in those camps. But why did hardly anyone care, or rather know, about the Jews' fate in Europe Many U.S. American people faced severe problems in their own country - the aftermath of the Great Depression was still noticeable. Even between 1938 and 1939 an estimated number of eight to ten million people were unemployed in the USA. Consequently, a latent anti-Semitism existed in the U.S. society and was stirred up by people like W. D. Pelley as well as by Father C. E. Coughlin.But Pelley and Coughlin were not the only ones in opposition to the immigration of Jews; especially the State Department (responsible for immigration quotas) blocked foreign immigration due to bureaucratic inefficiency; the U.S. immigration quotas permanently decreased from 1939 to 1945 and in a way locked up Jews in Europe. Even the different groups of American Jews (e.g. Zionists versus Non-Zionists) were not able to establish a concentrated conglomerate in order to support European Jews.

Gerade deshalb erregte er die Gemüter seiner Konkurrenten, die mit Neid auf ihn schauten und ständig darauf bedacht waren, ihn in irgendeiner Art und Weise zu entmachten. Heinrich, welcher als Herzog mit Sachsen und Bayern belehnt wurde, widmete sich mit seiner Politik eher Sachsen als Bayern. Hier war er darauf bedacht, den bestehenden Grenzverlauf zu sichern und so weit wie möglich die herzogliche Einflusssphäre ins Territorium der Slawen hinein zu erweitern. Helmold von Bosau stellte am Ende der von ihm verfassten Slawenchronik 1172 fest, dass das gesamte Gebiet der Slawen, welches vorher durch Überfälle und Wegelagerei gekennzeichnet war, in einen Siedlungsraum der Sachsen umgewandelt wurde und der christliche Glaube größtenteils vorherrschte. Natürlich ist diese Beschreibung stark beschönigt, doch lassen sich die Errungenschaften Heinrichs des Löwen dort nicht abstreiten. Nun stellt sich die Frage, wie es dem sächsischen Herzog gelang, einen derartigen Erfolg im Wendengebiet zu verbuchen und welche Rolle dabei Dänemark (als Repräsentant des südöstlichen Ostseeraumes) spielte. Inwiefern Heinrich der Löwe, je nach Ausgangslage, mit Dänemark, und auch mit den Slawen im Wechselspiel Bündnisse schloss und wie sich daraus das Verhältnis zwischen den drei Kontrahenten entwickelt hat, wird im Folgenden näher betrachtet.

Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts. Von den 'hit-and-run' Taktiken der Rebellen im Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg (1775-1783) abgesehen, gewann der Guerillakrieg besonders in Europa zunehmend Bedeutung, als der scheinbar unaufhaltbare Napoleon Bonaparte eine traditionelle Armee nach der anderen besiegte und demnach fast das gesamte Kontinentaleuropa unter seine Herrschaft brachte. Die darauf folgende Reaktion war der teilweise erfolgreiche Einsatz von Guerillatechniken in Spanien, Teilen Österreichs (Tirol) und Russland. Auch in Deutschland beschäftigten sich die progressiven Generäle Gerhard Johann David von Scharnhorst und August Neithardt von Gneisenau mit dem Thema der Volksbewaffnung und des Landsturms, doch wurden diese Theorien nie wie geplant in die Praxis umgesetzt. Erst Carl von Clausewitz widmete sich nach dem Sieg über Napoleon erneut der Volksbewaffnung in seinem Werk 'Vom Kriege' und stellte bedeutende Grundsätze für Strategie und Taktik des Krieges an sich, als auch der alternativen Kriegsführung (in Form des Partisanenkriegs) heraus. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, wichtige Aspekte und Theorien des 26. Kapitels 'Volksbewaffnung' im sechsten Buch von Clausewitz' 'Vom Kriege' herauszuarbeiten und deren allgemeine Gültigkeit bis heute hin zu überprüfen. Im Vergleich dazu sollen die circa 130 Jahre später entstandenen Schriften Ernesto 'Che' Guevaras über den Partisanenkrieg im Zusammenhang mit der kubanischen Revolution näher betrachtet werden. Inwiefern Clausewitz' Prinzipien sich auch in Guevaras Werken wieder finden lassen und inwieweit sich diese im 20. Jahrhundert verändert bzw. weiterentwickelt haben, soll außerdem im Rahmen dieser Untersuchung behandelt werden.
