BOOK CONDITION: fair. The text block and illustrations are in generally very good condition, with no dogears or marks, but there is a small tear toward the top of pages 143-147. No bookplate but the signature of a prior owner, along with the inscription of date and place of purchase, is written inside the front cover. Not a library book or remainder. The beige cloth boards are in fairly good condition (some curling and foxing). 9 ¼ x 6 ¾, 167 pages, 20 ounces XX [Wikipedia] Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón (6 July 1907- 13 July 1954) was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. In the 1970s she became a feminist icon. Guillermo Meza Álvarez (September 11, 1917 - October 2, 1997) was a Mexican painter, known for his oils depicting fantastic background and often distorted human figures, generally with denunciations of society. He was born to a Tlaxcalteca indigenous father of modest means, but his parents had interest in the arts, history and literature. Juan O'Gorman (6 July 1905 - 17 January 1982) was a Mexican painter, muralist, and modernist architect. Julio Castellanos González (b. Mexico City, October 3, 1905 - d. Mexico City, July 16, 1947) was a Mexican painter and engraver. Jesús Reyes Ferreira, (1880 - 1977) born José de Jesús Benjamín Buenaventura de los Reyes y Ferreira and also known as Chucho Reyes, was a self-taught artist and antiques/art collector and vendor. Reyes Ferreira began painting on crêpe paper, a delicate material not meant to last, as a way of decorating paper meant to wrap sales from his antiques/art store. The decorated paper became popular enough to be sold on its own. Although he began this activity in Guadalajara, he did not produce the bulk of his work until after he moved to Mexico City when he was 58 years old. Here he continued collecting and selling objects such as colonial art and Mexican handcrafts and folk art, being one of the early exponents for the appreciation of these objects. He also spent several hours a day painting. His work was first exhibited in 1950 with his first individual exhibition in 1967 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes after a half century of painting. Kahlo, Frida; Guillermo Meza; Juan O'Gorman; Julio Castellanos; Jesus Reyes Ferreira (illustratore).…
