Das Buch ist seit über einem Jahr wieder vergriffen, der Verlag wartete auf die neuen Anhänge und Korrekturen. Gestern habe ich ihm die letzten Korrekturen schickt, nach 3 durchgearbeiteten Nächten: bis 6.20 in der Frühe; bis 8 in der Frühe (mit Schlaf bis 8.30); und bis 1 in der Frühe. (Vergiss nicht, daß ich fast 80 bin!) Dieser Brief ist der erste, den ich seit dieser etwas gewaltsamen Anstrengung schreibe [.] Es ist möglich, daß ich am 15. Februar zu einer Konferenz (10.30 bis etwa 3 Uhr) nach Wien kommen kann. Falles es geht, würde ich sehr gerne die Sache mit den Hörgeräten wieder aufnehmen. Um Dich zu erinnern: Der sehr nette Mann, von Viennaton[e], am Kai bei der Urania, mit dem Ernst gesprochen hatte, sagte uns, er werde im September oder Oktober ein neues Modell bekommen, das, so wie meine gegenwärtigen U.S. hearing aids, im Ohr selbst getragen wird (nicht hinter dem Ohr, wie die, die der Mann hatte). Ich habe nun mehre[re] Fragen [.] Nun zu Deinem überaus interessanten Brief: Ich freue mich, daß Du mit Deinem Buch so gut vorwärts gekommen bist [.] Du schreibst, daß die Gespräche für sich sprechen und keiner Deutung . bedürfen'. Das ist bestimmt unrichtig: Leser sind willig, aber sie brauchen Erklärungen. Man muß sie auf diese Punkte stoßen, erst dann werden ihnen (vielleicht die Augen aufgehen [.]" (a. d. Br. v. 23. I. 1982). - Der undatierte, wohl gegen Ende der achtziger Jahre hin verfaßte Briefentwurf betr. einer Veröffentlichung, an der Christiane Meyer-Bornsen beteiligt gewesen war: "Dein Name erschien als Co-Autor auf der ersten Seite; aber es ist mir klar, daß das nicht bedeutet, daß Du alles gelesen hast, was in dem Manuskript steht. Und ich bin überzeugt, daß Du nicht weißt, daß ich auf den Seiten . und so in sehr häßlicher und unsachlicher Weise persönlich angegriffen werde. (Noch dazu in einem Ton, der in einem betont christlichen Buch nicht vorkommen sollte; aber gerade die größten Theologen waren ja immer große Hasser [.]) [.]". - Das beiliegende Widmungsexemplar ist ein Sonderabdruck von Poppers Aufsatz "Epistemology and Industrialization" aus "Ordo.
