Tina Keane, precursore dell'arte multimediale nel Regno Unito, ha lavorato con film, video, media…digitali, sculture al neon, installazioni e performance. Figura fondante del movimento artistico femminile, il suo lavoro verte principalmente su "identità e gioco" e riflette la sua prospettiva femminista e le sue esplorazioni di questioni politiche, ruoli di genere e sessualità. I suoi lavori sono stati esposti e proiettati a livello nazionale e internazionale e ha vinto premi dall'Arts Council, da Channel 4, dal British Council e dal London Production Board. È stata docente di cinema e video al Central St Martin's College of Art dal 1982 al 2012, dove tra i suoi studenti figuravano Sandra Lahire e Isaac Julien. Keane è stata anche ricercatrice presso il St Martin's, occupandosi di Internet e della creatività digitale. La principale pubblicazione sul lavoro della Keane fino ad oggi, Electronic Shadows (2004), considera il suo ruolo significativo nella videoarte contemporanea e il suo posto nel cinema d'artista dalla fine degli anni Settanta in poi.
