Volume one is sewn paperback and contains the substantial introduction as well as the German and Latin text on facing pages. Volume two is a beautifully bound and illustrated hardcover facsimile of the 1497 handwritten volume and its color illustrations on almost every page. The introduction was written by Josef Hermann Beckmann, Direktor der Universitätsbibliothek Freiburg im Breisgau, 1954-1965. Johannes Kerer (1430-1507) was Bishop of Augsburg, University Professor in Freiburg and founder of the Freiburger Collegium Sapentiae. - The facsimile was also published in a Latin-English version. …
