Randläsuren sowie R. etw. eingerissen. - Blumauer, (1755 - 1798), trat 1772 in den Jesuitenorden ein, begann aber nach dessen Auflösung 1773 ein Studium an der Philosophischen… Fakultät in Wien; dort lernte er u.a. Joseph von Sonnenfels kennen. Blumauer, der seit 1780 in der Hofbibliothek tätig war, gab 1781-94 zusammen mit Joseph Franz Ratschky den "Wiener Musenalmanach" heraus und redigierte 1782-84 die aufklärerische "Realzeitung". 1782 erhielt er eine Stelle als k.k. Bücherzensor und übernahm 1786 die Buchhandlung Rudolph Gräffers. Der in der folgenden Zeit vor allem als Lyriker tätige Blumauer wurde 1787 auf Reisen nach Weimar und Berlin u.a. von Christoph Martin Wieland und Friedrich Justin Bertuch empfangen. Seit 1791 arbeitete er als Antiquar und gab regelmäßig Bücherverzeichnisse heraus. Sein Hauptwerk Virgils Aeneis travestiert (3 Bde., 1784-88) enthält eine Apologie der josephinischen Kirchenreformen. (DBE).
