The work was designed by Kitaj with typography by Gordon House in consultation with Robert Creeley, with each of the 43 pages in a different typeface and printed on different coloured papers. Books played a very important part in Kitaj's life, and he collaborated with numerous poets over the years, but this is certainly his magnum opus as a book illustrator Edition de Tête, copy IV of XXV copies signed by author and illustrator on limitation page, illustrated with fourteen graphics, eight screenprints, four etchings, one lithograph and one extra screenprint; with some prints on acetate, canvas, and different paper stocks, each print numbered and signed by the artist, with all plates and screens destroyed after printing.
