Das subjektive Wohlbefinden hat in den letzten Jahrzehnten nicht nur in der Wissenschaft, sondern auch in der Politik zunehmend an Bedeutung gewonnen. Die groÃe wissenschaftliche und à ffentliche Aufmerksamkeit weisen darauf hin, dass es sich beim subjektiven Wohlbefinden inzwischen sogar um ein wichtiges Qualitätsmerkmal von Politiken handelt. Während es zahlreiche Untersuchungen zu den Einflussfaktoren auf das subjektive Wohlbefinden unterschiedlicher Bevà lkerungsgruppen gibt, ist der Zusammenhang von Eltern und Kindern in diesem Bereich weitgehend unbekannt. Der Autor des Buches setzt sich deshalb mit der Frage auseinander, ob sich das subjektive Wohlbefinden von Eltern auf ihre Kinder überträgt. Dabei stehen zwei Aspekte im Vordergrund, die in der bisherigen Forschung selten bearbeitet werden. Zum einen werden das subjektive Wohlbefinden und seine intergenerationale Ãbertragbarkeit theoretisch fundiert. Grundlage dafür sind die Konzepte von Pierre Bourdieu zum sozialen Raum, zum Habitus, zur Praxis und zum Kapitalbegriff. Für einen theoretischen Gesamtrahmen werden diese Konzepte ergänzt, wo es nà tig ist und auf den Begriff des subjektiven Wohlbefindens im intergenerationalen Verhältnis angewandt. Der zweite Schwerpunkt des Buches ist die empirische Prüfung des theoretischen Konzeptes am Beispiel Deutschlands mit Hilfe der Daten des Sozio-à konomischen Panels. Die Besonderheit dieser Daten liegt in der Mà glichkeit, kausale Einflüsse im Zeitverlauf zu untersuchen und damit über den GroÃteil der empirischen Studien im Bereich des subjektiven Wohlbefindens hinauszugehen. Die Ergebnisse legen einerseits die Brauchbarkeit der theoretischen Fundierung nahe. Zum anderen kann gezeigt werden, dass sich moderate Einflüsse in der Momentaufnahme im Rahmen einer Verlaufsperspektive deutlich verstärken. Subjektives Wohlbefinden als Teil des menschlichen Habitus wird dabei stärker von der Mutter auf die Kinder übertragen als vom Vater.…
